Kite Surfing
Kite surfing is a new exciting water sport for the
new century. Since 1999 the
population of kite surfers has grown rapidly. Kite surfing is whilst being very simple,
is also about co-ordination. A
kite surfer stands on a board with foot straps or bindings and use the power
of a large controllable kite to propel him and the board across the water.
The surfers body is the only connection between the kite and the board and
you have to control them both at the same time. Basically its like
flying a kite in the sky only with the added difficulty of steering the board on the water. Many of the windsurf schools now offer
lessons and equipment hire for kite surfing.
Windsurfing, Surfing & Boogy
Boarding
As with windsurfing, Fuerteventura has
become a Mecca for surfers and boogy
boarders especially during the Autumn/Winter months with the advent of the
large Atlantic swells. There are perfect breaks to suit all abilities
and some top class surf schools for the total beginner. Whilst relatively
inexpensive and un-crowded the winds are unpredictable. Fuerteventura is
host to the P.W.A. Windsurfing Speed & Slalom Event.
Deep Sea Fishing
The
exceptional climate, volcanic sea beds and depths of up to 3500 mtrs make
the Fuerteventura one of the world's leading locations for big game
enthusiasts. There is an enormous variety of fish to be caught here
including the marlin and the legendary swordfish which, are always returned
to the sea. To take part in this unique sport no previous experience is
required. If fishing isn't for you then the boat trip can be just as
exciting as you will almost always see flying fish or turtle on the way and
the deck is great place to top up your tan. Oh and don't forget the camera!
Diving
Fuerteventura
offers many superb dive sites just waiting to be found. Divers can enjoy
dramatic rock formations, drop-offs, wrecks and reefs and a myriad of
marine life such as eagle rays, angel sharks, barracudas, moray eels, tuna
and sea bream. Ideal for both beginners and advanced divers.
