Beaches & Resorts
Sa
Caleta
The small
sandy beach of Sa Caleta lies at the end of a very
picturesque cala just to the south of Ciutadella, at the end of which is an
old watch-tower, standing guard against would be invaders. The pretty white
sandy beach and clear waters make this lovely for swimming. On the beach
you'll find sun lounges, parasols and pedalos. for hire. It's a very quiet
resort, perfect to relax and unwind with a long ice cool drink watching the
sun go down ideal for families. The resort has few shops but with Ciutadella
being next door you'll never go short of finding somewhere to spend your
money.
Cala Galdana
is one of the most
popular spots in Menorca, set in a horseshoe
bay. The small sandy cove is ideal for watersports and sunbathers. Plenty of
restaurants and bars ensures Cala Galdana is ideal for all holidaymakers.
Son Bou
is Menorca's only long sandy beach. There are two very
unattractive
hotels at the eastern end, but the beach is long and beautiful enough to
compensate for the eyesore. Being long and wide, Son Bou is never as crowded
as some of the small coves.
Cala Macarella
This magnificent naturist cove has got to be one of the most
beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean Sea. Even though it is not easy to
reach, it is not a hidden gem. But then, how many undiscovered paradises do
still exist? Especially in this part of the world. To get there you have
drive to Cala Macarella, 18 km south-east of Ciutadella. The last 5 km the
road is
nothing more than a bumpy dirt
track. From Cala Macarella (also a very beautiful beach) it is a 10 min walk
over the cliff (signposted). Cala Macarelleta is the one beach in Menorca
you can't afford to miss!
